Samual Nathaniel Brown paroled from Lancaster in December 2021 after serving 24 years in California State Prisons. Inside, he completed thousands of hours of self-help work, learned to facilitate, earned degrees with honors, and turned his own transformation into pathways for others.
He founded 10P at New Folsom in 2014, pioneered the Theory of Emotional Illiteracy-Based Criminality, built educational partnerships, co-led victim-offender mediation, and developed programs that prepared people to return to society better than when they entered.
A two-time state champion in spoken-word poetry and a lifelong organizer, Sam’s work also helped drive the effort to end involuntary servitude in California prisons.
